Columbian born Sergio Gutierrez studied electronic engineering while in college and in 1991, he began researching ways of using ball chains to create a mesh like fabric. Nearly 12 years later, in 2003 he was granted a patent for creating a unique technique he named, Liquid Microchip. Now designed in Miami, all pieces are handmade from nickel metal.
